Hard time empowering others to support me

I used to have a hard time empowering others to support me, I would take on most tasks myself.

But it wasn’t because I didn't believe in the people around me, I have always worked with much smarter people than myself. It was more along the lines of “I don’t want to dump this sh**t on anyone else”.

Integrating sustainability into the organization can be hard because it can seem as if we are “dumping” difficult stuff on others.

Shifting from one way of working to a more sustainable way of working, is not easy. But instead of thinking that we are dumping stuff on others, we should recognise that we are finally locating the rightful owner of the task when we integrate sustainability.

It was never meant to be part of a siloed function, it is supposed to be owned and breathed by the organisation.

As a sustainability leader your role is to be there as support and a convener, not the one that does it all. That, in my mind, is dumping.
